Inbee Park secured her 3rd major championship with a birdie on the 3rd play-off hole against Scotland’s Catriona Matthew at Locust Hill Country club, NY last night.

After weather disruptions players completed the final 2 rounds on Sunday, with Matthew coming from behind to shoot 68 on the final round, and forcing a play-off with Park who stumbled over the final holes with 3 bogeys on 14, 16 and 18th.
After both parred the first two playoff holes, Park holed an 18-footer to seal victory.
It was a fantastic tournament for the European players, Matthew in second position and Suzann Pettersen in 3rd. Pettersen fired an impressive 65 on the final round – the best round of the tournament. Anna Nordqvist, Caroline Masson and Beatriz Recari also took away top 20 finishes.
With double points available, Matthew and Pettersen surged further up the Solheim Cup points board, joined by potential Solheim rookies Carlota Ciganda and Caroline Masson. Rolex's rankings spots are currently taken by 2011 Solheim rookie Azahara Munoz, Anna Norqvist, Beatriz Recari - who is chasing her debut, and Karine Icher who would make her 2nd appearance since her only Solheim in 2002.
